Overview of the Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis) Samples and Weight in the Kennebec River 2020
Abstract
With data and hard evidence, it is possible to investigate if the striped bass is getting stressed out by anglers and the lack of food. Starting June 10th and ending on October 22nd in 2020, I went fishing for striped bass without a depth finder in different spots on the Kennebec River using my Jon boat. I recorded total fish caught, hours fished and average weight. I used the length to weight scale for striped bass.
I found out that the striped bass are doing excellent at Doubling Pt (30 fish), BIW (15 fish) and Parker head (12 fish). However, the striped bass numbers are not good at Lines Island with 1 fish. A lot of my fish were under 4 pounds which suggests that the big fish are captured too much by anglers.
