Symposium

The Findings Symposium is an opportunity for scientists of all ages (middle school, high school, and professional) to come together as a scientific community to share their research and observations about the environment around them.  Students create posters with the option to present their work in front of an audience.  Most importantly, students get a chance to talk with other students around the region who are also exploring similar phenomena and are excited about doing science.  See the WGME news channel segment about last year's symposium.

What will the 2025 Symposium look like?

We are still very much in the planning phase, but on March 10th of 2025 the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) will be hosting another in-person student symposium this coming spring.  Students, grades 5-12, will come together to share their observations and research alongside professional scientists.   We will be updating this site with more details, stay tuned.
